Paramore was formed in Franklin, Tennessee in the year 2002.
Hayley Williams, the leading front woman, moved to Franklin to meet Josh and Zac Farro, two brothers that played guitar and
drums. She also met Jeremy Davis, a bass player, and the band took off. They were signed to Fueled by Ramen, and picked up
John Hembree along the way.
The name Paramore was originally used because of one of the members maiden names, which
was Paramore. When the band discovered it's french meaning of "secret lovers", the name stuck, and they've used it since.
The band is very young, with Zac Farro, the drummer, being the youngest member at 18. He first played Warped Tour at age 15,
being the youngest person ever to play the tour.
When Fueled By Ramen CEO John Janick first heard the band,
he went to Franklin to see them play live, and signed them to FBR. They first recorded an EP titled "The Summer Tic". It was
available for purchase at the 2006 Warped Tour, and sold a good amount of copies. Soon after, in 2005, they released their
first full-length album, "All We Know Is Falling", which features the songs "Pressure", "All We Know" and "Emergency". The
band spent a while touring for this album, but was still not an international success.
In 2007, the band released "RIOT!",
which has become one of the most recognized albums of 2007. The album was named for it's definition: "A sudden outburst of
emotion and charisma", said the band. The first single off of the sophomore album, "Misery Business", made it's way into the
Top 40 Hits, followed by the single, "Hallelujah", which was only available in the U.K. "Crushcrushcrush" and "That's What
You Get" soon followed, and had mild success.
The band has toured for this album twice, including a huge
European Tour. But, the last three shows were cancelled due to personal issues amoungst the members of the band. Upon hearing
this, the fans assumed that the band was breaking up, leading to rumors, including a shocking one that the lead vocalist,
Hayley Williams, was pregnant. When the band addressed these rumors, the told their fans that they just needed time off to
rest and get collected. And, no. Hayley was not pregnant.
Paramore is currently gearing up for "The Final Riot!" tour
with Jack's Mannequine, The Paper Route, and Phantom Planet. This will be the final tour for the album "Riot!", hence the
name. The road to this album was rocky, with the loss and gains of band members. But, the band is still together and is pumped
for years of music to come. The current lineup is:
Hayley Williams: Vocals Josh Farro: Lead Guitar/Vocals
Zac Farro: Drums Jeremy Davis: Bass Taylor York (touring): Rhythm Guitar
